Pre-Reading Blog #1

Over the past week I have noticed a few aspects that inspire fear in citizens. One aspect that really stands out to me is how horrible today’s economy is. With today’s economy there are many changes happening, one such horrible change is the cuts in education. Teachers now have the fear of losing their jobs, student programs are being cut, and students are the ones suffering most. My first week coming back to school after Christmas break and all of my teachers were talking about how they can no longer add students to the class because they can not have their class size over a certain limit, and that summer school might be cut out for many Jr. Colleges. Also there is talk about cutting the days students attend school from 180 days till the minimum requirement of 160 days or even schools cutting the school week short. These changes and cuts inspire fear in me and other people as well because in today’s society education is important in order to have a nice stable job in the future and if these cuts and changes in education continue then many people will lose out on their education. The main question is, will today’s economy get so bad that this fear of major cuts in education become a reality?
